Checks when an installer joins
- Active ABN and business registration details.
- Relevant trade licences for the work they'll quote (electrical, plumbing, refrigerant handling).
- Solar Accreditation Australia (SAA) accreditation for solar and battery installers.
- Retailer signatory status under the New Energy Tech Consumer Code (NETCC), where relevant.
- Current public liability insurance.
- Accreditation or registration with state programs they claim to offer discounts under (for example VEU or NSW ESS).
- Service areas and products they're genuinely able to quote and install.
Ongoing monitoring
We ask customers about their experience, review complaints, and periodically re-check licences, accreditations and insurance. Installers can be paused or removed if they don't meet our standards.
What our checks don't mean
Our checks are a starting point, not a guarantee. We don't inspect installations or guarantee workmanship. Always check licence numbers yourself, read the quote carefully and get warranties in writing.
Problem with an installer?
Tell us at our contact page. For disputes about a contract or installation, your state's fair trading or consumer affairs agency can help.
